BLAISE ARRIVES - THE BIG TRIP

On Tuesday, August 4th we woke up to a terrible storm. Kevin decided to work from home since it was so crazy out. I joked to Kevin that it would be crazy if my water broke on this yucky day. Be careful what you say.... 30 minutes later it broke. I had just finished eating breakfast when Blaise gave me a mighty kick that felt very different. I got up to clear the table and realized that he had broken his own water! He was ready, but we weren't! What a crazy day to try to get to the hospital! What should have been a 15 minute drive turned in to almost an hour. Luckily, I wasn't having major contractions just yet so I was as calm as I could be, but Kevin was nuts and ready to shout out the window at the cops blocking all the streets off that his wife was in labor and he needed to get through! We did think to take some pics while we were stuck in traffic. I could not believe the Walgreens parking lot. You can see the cars are almost covered!

My Grandma gave me a bench that my Grandpa made a few years ago. It was in pretty good shape, but had a few parts that were starting to fall apart. Kevin and Preston fixed it for me. Preston loves to help his Dad fix anything! He runs inside to get the tool that matches his Dad's!

I'm sure many of you have heard that Blaise decided to arrive last Tuesday during the Flash Flood! The usual 15 minute trip to the Dr.'s took about 45 minutes! What a crazy but wonderful day! POOL FUN

I've been a terrible blogger this summer, but with pretty good excuse. Preston and I are busy playing during the day and by the time he gets to bed, me and my enormous belly are ready for some couch time. I'm attempting to catch up a little before more baby pics come our way.

Preston is a little too brave for my taste around the pool. He loves to jump in. It just makes me nervous that he'll do that when Daddy is not there!

ROUGH WEEKEND

Have ya ever had one of those weekends where you need another weekend just to recover from your weekend? That was ours. My saga began Thursday at 3AM. I woke up feeling like I had the flu. I didn't sleep the rest of the night. I went ahead and tried to get ready for my workshop Friday, but by 7:30, I decided I just wasn't feeling well enough to go. Kevin took Preston to my mom on his way to work since I wasn't feeling well. I couldn't make it off the couch all day. By 3PM, I was convinced that I was sick and/or in pre-term labor. I called my mom to take me to the ER while Kevin met me there. They determined that I was dehydrated and I was indeed having contractions and was dilated 2 centimeters. They gave me fluid and drugs which knocked me out to let me rest and to stop the contractions. I had orders to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. They assured me that the next day I should be as good as new.
And back to the ER.... Saturday morning, I was not as good as new! I felt worse. By noon, the contractions were back and worse and I felt even more sick. Scared that this little guy is going to arrive too soon, I decided to go back to the ER. My temperature was up which was affecting Blaise's heartrate. Fortunately, I had not dilated any more from the night before despite the contractions. They tested for the flu and bacterial infections, both of which were negative. They decided that I had a virus and gave me more fluids to move it through my system. And off we went again.
Today, I am finally starting to feel better. I woke up hungry for the first time in 2 days, but still haven't had much of an appetite. I'm still battling a low fever and chills, but no contractions!
My csection had been scheduled for August 11th. After this weekend, I feel like it's a joke! I'm suppose to have the csection the week before that, but my Dr. will be on vacation. Perfect timing! I somehow don't think Blaise will stay in there quite that long. I'm hoping to get him to stay indoors for 3 more weeks. He's been giving me hell today for everything I've put him through this weekend! I just want to bring my baby home with me this time around, so hopefully for his mom's sake, he'll stay put.

In June, we took a trip to the Indianapolis Children's Museum with my brother and his family. It was a lot of fun! Preston had a really good time.

Kevin and I had built a monkey with Preston's heartbeat inside of it for him before he was born. We decided to let Preston make one for Blaise. Here we are picking out a heart. We actually chose 3 hearts and each made a wish for Blaise.

On May 17th, I celebrated my 30th birthday! It's hard to believe, but if my thirties are filled with the laughter of little boys running around, I can't imagine anything better! Preston & Grammy made me a special picture frame/card.

My friend, David, from North Carolina, sent me some flowers. They were so pretty. Thanks David!

Pregnancy nevers seems to be dull for me from conception to delivery. Sadly, I wish it were. My blood pressure would be much happier. Today at school, during recess, I was sidelined hard with a kickball to my side. Those third-graders are getting big and it hurt! With my history, I worried, of course. Finally, some co-workers talked me in to calling my Dr. just to reassure myself. I did not expect my Dr. to send me to Labor & Delivery Triage. They said anytime there is a blow to the abdomen area, a woman should be checked to make sure the placenta does not disconnect and start contractions. So off I went to the hospital. Luckily, I ran into my friend Liz, at the hospital, who could see that the tears were moments away. She stayed with me until Kevin could make it there. They hooked me up and monitored Blaise for about 2 hours. He was very busy in there and didn't seem to be affected by the hit. It is amazing how protective I feel about this little life whom I've yet to meet. Until then, I have to go pull out yet another gray hair on my head! By the time he gets here, I may have to starting coloring! :)

My boys made me sure I had a great Mother's Day. After a yummy breakfast of muffins and chocolate milk, we headed out to church. God has given us so much to be thankful for!

Next Mother's Day, I'll get to celebrate with my 2 boys! How exciting!

SPRING FLOWERS

Last fall we planted a tree just for Preston. My brother and I each grew up with our own special tree in our yard and we thought it was so special. I thought my kids would enjoy that tradition as well. Preston's tree has already grown a lot!

During the wind storm this spring, we lost a huge tree. We took the opportunity to go ahead and plant a new one. Funny thing is that the name of the tree is a Red Blaze Maple tree. We thought this would be a perfect tree for Blaise! It 's all ready to go for his arrival!
Kevin planted the garden this year, so of course it looks much neater! My rows always seem to get off track. He planted tomatoes, green peppers, squash, zucchini, onions, and green beans. Hopefully it will do as well as last year.
My new adventure this year was planting blueberry bushes. I have 3. Apparently you have to have 2 different types. Kevin fertilized them for me this weekend. My Grandpa Roseberry always grew awesome blueberries. Hopefully, I will make him proud.

I'm so excited about my flowering vines growing on my arbor. I have babied these things since last year. I wasn't sure that they had survived the winter, but I have beautiful purple flowers! It is growing quickly so hopefully next spring it will reach the top of the arbor.

Saturday we went to Lawrenceburg to celebrate Kevin's Dad's birthday. Preston pretty much "watered" the birthday pie when they blew out the candles, but Grandpa got a kick out it!

Kevin took Friday off to hang out with Preston and I. We decided it was a perfect overcast day for the zoo. It was pretty cool out so the animals were pretty active.

I think Preston's favorite animal was the elephants. Baby Scotty was busy playing with a stick most of the time. Here they are showing off a little.

We had such a fun day at the zoo, but a few hours of walking around and I was worn out.

BLAISE LEROY KIST

This little guy is kicking and punching so much...it just seems weird to keep calling him "him." Just wanted to let our friends and family know that we have officially named "him" Blaise Leroy Kist. Blaise is a name that I really like. One Sunday we were in Mass and they announced that it was time for the Blessing of the Throats. A blessing done by Saint Blaise. I told Kevin that this was a sign. It was a boy and we should name him Blaise. Leroy is after my Grandpa Roseberry that passed away in October. I like to think my Grandpa called in a few favors after his passing because we found out we were expecting 4 weeks after that. Grandpa was crazy about Preston and I know he will be smiling down on us as Blaise is welcomed to our family.

We had my family over for a cookout Saturday to celebrate Thunder. The boys had such a great time playing outside. I was so proud of Preston for sharing his Gator. He really isn't very good at driving just yet, so I think he enjoyed being driven around.

BOY! Kevin and I are so excited that Preston will have a little brother! Everything went well this morning at the ultrasound. I drank some coke to really get the baby moving and boy was he hyper. They almost couldn't tell because he was moving so much. He was busy playing with his toes which hindered a good look at the area, but after a potty break for Mommy, we could get a better picture of him. His profile already reminds me of Preston's newborn picture. His name is still being tossed around. We'll let ya know when we have made a decision. I'll post some ultrasound pictures when I get a chance this weekend. Thank you to everyone who prayed for the health of our new little guy.

TOT TIME

Preston & Grammy have been going the spring Tot Time program at the library. Preston really likes going. He loves this "tow" that he made. Whenever he says "tow" he has to say "moo" with it. I guess they just go together.

This "ticken" is really cute. It rocks back and forth. He got to choose 1 crayon to color it. Brown was a nice choice, buddy!

BIG BOY BED

Saturday we moved Preston into his big boy bed. I can't believe my baby boy is getting so big. This transition has definitely been harder for me then it has for Preston. Here's Kevin setting up the crib in the baby's room. We will hopefully find out on Friday if we will be having a boy or girl.

Preston made the change of beds so much better than I thought. I pictured us putting him to better dozens of times before he would fall asleep, but it only took 3 times the first night and then he seemed to just get it. I think he really loves feeling like a big boy, which helps out a lot. I'm so proud of him for doing so well. I'm getting teary eyed just writing about it. My little guy is growing up too fast.

Part of Preston's birthday present was a powerwheels Gator. We just held off from buying it this winter because we didn't want to store it. We decided this weekend that it was a perfect time to try it out. I think it was love at first sight for Preston!

I have to admit I've been a bad blogger lately. I am obsessed with the Twilight series. I spend every free moment that I'm not with Preston to read. Once I start a new book, my house goes to pot because I don't do anything else but read! I'm finally on the fourth and final book; only 40 pages to go! I read once Preston goes to bed, but growing a baby seems to make me extra tired so I crash before I get too far, then I read while I eat breakfast and tear myself away to go to work! I'm so obssessed, it's crazy! I keep telling Kevin that I'm having a book affair! I finally got to see the movie this weekend and it was so good. I want to see it again. I'll be back to blogging soon!

YET AGAIN

Sadly, "Dorothy 2" had gone to fish heaven. She did not even last a week. I didn't even know I could kill another fish in a week! I'm really starting to feel kinda bad about this. Is is really something that I'm am/not doing? I knew it was a bad sign when she would not eat, even from the first day. Maybe we just buy sick fish! Who knows. Poor Preston thinks all Dorothy ever does is sleep!

BABY KIST CHECK UP

Last week, Baby Kist had a check up. He/She is doing well! I've seen so many specialists lately, it was nice to be surrounded by "normal" pregnant ladies. It certainly eases my anxiety a little. We heard a beautiful little heartbeat. It still brings tears to my eyes that this has finally happened for us. We finally mentioned something to Preston about their being a baby in mommy's belly. He just looked at us like we were crazy and moved on :) What can we expect from a 2 year old!

I already killed off Dorothy :( I was warned to clean out her bowl every week, but it just didn't look dirty, so I waited and then she croaked on me. I told Preston she was sleeping. That's the great thing about 2 year olds, they'll believe anything you tell them. We are on a mission to replace "Dorothy" before he questions where she is!

2 YEAR CHECK UP

Yesterday Preston had his 2 year check up. He did a great job for the doctor until he gets to his least favorite part, the part where he has to lie down, he knows nothing good happens when he has to lie back! Poor guy, but only 1 shot. He was a trooper. As expected, he continues to be our "little giant!" He was 90% in height and 70% in weight for his age percentile. He's a busy little guy!

Kevin, Preston & I are thrilled to announce that we will be growing to a family of four in August. We are so excited to meet the special little guy/girl that God has so carefully chosen for us. When my nephew Beardsley turned 2, he loved Elmo as well, so for his birthday we got him a "Dorothy." My brother told us he would pay us back one day when he was hiding a dead goldfish from his son. Well, 3 years later and their "Dorothy" is still kicking! Amazing! I killed 3 fish at our house in that time. So here is our payback. Preson got a "Dorothy." At least he probably won't notice when "Dorothy" is sleeping at the top of her bowl :)

Here is Preston's other birthday present. He hasn't really showed too much interest in trains just yet, but we got such a great deal, we couldn't pass it up.

We need Sam & Jackson to come over and show Preston how to play trains. Preston's idea of playing trains is putting all the pieces in the drawer one by one (and you have to open the drawer up each time!) and then getting them back out.

CHRISTMAS WITH THE ROSEBERRY'S

Christmas with my family was out of sorts this year, but for a wonderful reason. My new nephew (Brooks) decided he would like to be here for Christmas, instead of his January 18th estimated arrival date. Brooks was 6lbs & 4 oz & 19 inches long. He was a sturdy little guy for being so early. He has been in the 3N nursery (where Preston stayed for a week) until recently this week. We are all so excited to meet him.

On Christmas Eve we gather together to bake cookies. By noon we are always sick from eating too many cookies, but that's half the fun!

Preston went to visit Santa last week at the mall. He was very serious about Santa and would not crack a smile for anything. At least it was better than last year's tears.

Preston is already practicing for Ash Wednesday! He got a hold of a permanent marker at my mom's today. He got it on his clothes and body. Guess we'll see how long it takes permanent marker to fade.

My friend Liz came over this week to take some pictures of us playing in the leaves in our yard. The pictures turned out so well and Preston actually had a good time getting his picture taken. If you are in need of some fun pictures, I highly recommend her.

Preston didn't really get the whole trick or treating thing. On our first stop to our neighbors, when they put the candy in his basket, he took it out and threw it back at them, but once he realized he could eat the treats, he was a little more into the idea. Maybe next year! He really was more interested in running back to the house to see Dada.

Every year my family gets together to make homemade apple cider. It's such a fun family tradition. It's exciting to see our kids start to share in the fun.

Now that Preston is tall enough to climb in the rocker in his room, he loves to climb up in the chair and look at books.

CELEBRATING GRANDPA

Saturday after Grandpa's burial, we decided to head back to his farm to celebrate and remember doing what he loved most; working outside on his farm. We ate soup, cooked hot dogs over the fire and cleaned up in his yard. All my childhood memories of Grandpa are doing something around his farm. I think this is where we all feel close to Grandpa. We hoped he was smiling down on us as we celebrated his life.

Preston decided that our shoes belonged in the hamper instead of our clothes.

This made me laugh today. I was mopping and saw something red down in the duct. Our busy little bee took off the covers and stuck it down in the duct and then replaced the covers. No telling how long it's been there. Boys crack me up!

Since I was home this week, Kevin and I got the chance to take Preston to his Tot Time at the library. We sang, danced, read books and made this nifty owl puppet. Preston did the gluing and Kevin did the sticking. Looks good boys!

I've been running a little behind on my blogging. Here's some pictures of our trip to Huber's last Sunday with my brother and his family. We had a lot of fun, but it was a little too warm for pumpkin picking! Where is Fall?

MORE GRANDPA

I wanted to share a few more pictures of my Grandpa. These pictures are when my grandparents had just returned home from Florida for the spring and were meeting Preston for the first time!

Saturday evening, after 88 years of life, we lost my Grandpa Roseberry. There were so many wonderful things about my grandpa that I hope I can one day share with Preston. Grandpa always seemed like a kid in a grown man's body. He loved to tell stories and always had a corny joke on hand to make everyone laugh. His favorite place to be was outside working on his farm. He loved spending time with Preston. When we would visit, he would grab Preston up and take him to play. Grandpa will be missed more than he could ever know, but I know that he is smiling down on us and will watch Preston grow. We love you Grandpa.

My Grandma & Grandpa were married for 63 years. I know that one day they will get to be together again.

SALMON FISHING

Kevin went salmon fishing in Michigan last week with his Dad and brother, Ryan. It looks like they had a great time, but I think the salmon put up a pretty big fight! I was very disappointed when I found out that I wouldn't be getting any fresh salmon for dinner. These salmon are swimming upstream, therefore, their bodies are already mushy, you can't eat them. Who fishes for fish you can't eat?

We decided to make a trip to Huber's Saturday evening to pick some apples. I really wanted some Fuji and Granny Smith apples, but we were about 2 weeks to soon.

We stopped to enjoy some homemade Huber's ice cream. Yum!

Preston has really been interested in the potty this last week. He will even go to the potty and want to get on and actually pee! Such luck so far! It cracked me up when he decided that his bear needed to use the potty as well!

We had a pretty crazy wind storm today that lasted a few hours. We have lots of tall skinny trees so they were bending and blowing like crazy. A few trees uprooted in the back yard.

We raked the entire backyard. It was filled with leaves and sticks.
